Salam Desa Madani 4.0@Pulau Tuba

Salam Desa Madani 4.0@Pulau Tuba is a programme led by Mizatul Hanis Mohd Huzir and Syaza Zahirah Mohd Anuar from 3 November 2023 to 5 November 2023. The program was attended by 31 students from UPM comprising 23 local students and 8 international students. The program is fully implemented in Pulau Tuba, Langkawi. 

The program is held for 3 days and 2 nights and is filled with 4 main slots that are interesting and beneficial to all students. The first slot is activities with a foster family. This slot is implemented to strengthen the relationship between participants and their adoptive families. At the same time, it can increase the level of communication of students with the outside community. Slot 2 for this program is the Tuba Island Knowledge Trail slot. This slot aims to provide an introduction about UPM and provide exposure on the path of study after SPM to Form 1-4 students in Pulau Tuba. Slot 3 is a Beach Sports slot. This slot is conducted with the local community to strengthen the relationship between participants and the local community. After that, the slot was connected with a Youth Motivation slot consisting of 24 youths from KEDA held at the Keda Rural Hall. The slot is conducted by Encik Mohd Ziyad Afiq Mohd Zaharim who is a postgraduate student and a Fellow of Tan Sri Aishah Ghani College. Slot 4 is an Education and Agriculture Interest slot held by Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau tuba which was participated by Year 5, Year 6 students and teachers. The title for this slot is Agriculture Without Hoes presented by En. Ahmad Shukry Yahya who is a postgraduate student and a Fellow of Tan Sri Aishah Ghani College. The closing ceremony of the Salam Desa Madani 4.0 @ Pulau Tuba Programme was held at KEDA Rural Hall attended by Puan Nor 'Ain Binti Che Hamzah, Kampung Pulau Tuba Head, Cik Aimi Nadhirah Roslan, Deputy Chief Fellow of Kolej Tan Sri Aishah Ghani and En. Rizal bin Mohd Yusof, Headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pula Tuba.

On the last day of the programme, the participants continued their mangrove swamp tree planting activities presented by En. Norkasmi, officer from the Kedah State Forestry Department. A total of 300 mangrove swamp saplings sponsored by Tenaga Nasional Berhad to be planted around Pulau Tuba. Students are very happy about this activity and it provides a new experience to both local and international students. After completing the mangrove swamp cultivation activities, the students returned to their adopted children's homes and began to go back to UPM.
